Chorus 2017 At Southbank Centre

1 Jul 2017 - 2 Jul 2017

Southbank Centre's Chorus festival celebrates the power of the voice and the spirit of communal singing.

For 2017, we welcomed choirs from across the Nordic regions as part of our Nordic Matters programme. Performances included Surrounded By Strangers, where the audience was immersed in the voices of Kammerkór Suðurlands (South Iceland Chamber Choir) and Southbank Centre's Voicelab; and Swedish folk singers Åkervinda, who shared their unique arrangements in a workshop.

The ENO Chorus and Orchestra performed Elgar’s The Dream of Gerontius in Royal Festival Hall and hosted a Know The Show workshop; Rachel Mars performed the hilarious and dark show Our Carnal Hearts.

Chorus is curated by Southbank Centre’s year-round vocal programme, Voicelab, and everyone is welcome. Check back for details of next year's festival in early 2018.
