SOUTHBANK CENTRE

Transform Southbank Centre Campaign Committee

The Royal Festival Hall has reopened after a major two-year refurbishment project.

The renovation of the Royal Festival Hall was the major step in modernisation of the whole Southbank Centre site, which welcomes more than three million people a year to its extraordinary range of cultural activities.

But the very popularity of the Royal Festival Hall and its surroundings resulted in its facilities and environment becoming shabby, requiring drastic updating.

The transformation of the Royal Festival Hall has been the first major expenditure on the site since 1967! Our objective was to return this Grade 1 listed building to its former glory, to introduce improvements to benefit today’s audiences and performers, and to achieve a significant enhancement of the auditorium’s acoustics.

World class performers, audiences and visitors at one of the best cultural venues deserve a world-class concert hall. We have now ensured that the much-loved Southbank Centre can meet the needs of the 21st century.

We believe passionately that Southbank Centre is one of our greatest cultural assets, loved in London, in Britain and internationally. It richly deserves your support.
