Gauri Sharma Tripathi

Gauri Sharma TripathiTrained in traditions of Kathak dance from her guru and mother Padma Sharma, Gauri has given Kathak a touch of her own joyous personality, creating a style distinctly her own. 
 
Taking Kathak into non-traditional and collaborative environments, Gauri has choreographed and performed in Coming of Age; choreographed the musical Baiju Bawara; Escapade; Sapnay and Waterscapes; choreographing and performing in Ramanujan, for the Munich Biennale; Rush for BBC Mega Mela; and choreographing and performing for Elton John. Recent highlights include choreographing Sacred Monsters for Akram Khan, a national and international tour of Ish Mir; Musee Guimet, Paris, Royal Festival Hall, Purcell Room, The Lowry and The Royal Albert Hall, London. Gauri has also studied and incorporated folk dance influences within her classical genre. She is known for grounding her performance in the traditions of Kathak while giving it a contemporary viewpoint.
